The Mouse

THE MOUSE

The mouse could not
bear to think that it
was as insignificant
as the tide and would
be forgotten by breeze
and sea alike. Nevertheless
it burrowed its way through
earth in its quest for
spiritual upliftment;
an escape from those
tedious vendors of comic
books who insist upon
declaring that life is
a pane of glass smashed
and that the fury of
rousing cannons would
blast the cities leaving
the world as blank as
a radar officer or a nun
who had slit a turtle’s throat.
