Tsolo Transkei

Tsolo, Transkei

A ditch within a ditch,
illumined by the frost,
throttled by the sun.
Twigs scratch the dust road.
The single gas station
whimpers like a puppy.
Everything obtrudes
and the mustiness matches
perfectly the idleness:
loafers in tackles
prepare to overwhelm
the emptiness.
