NEVER SATISFIED
(After Baudelaire)
You are always questing for
strange and unfamiliar plants,
always wishing to experience new
and exciting drinks: the green
nectar of chimpanzees, the pollen
of foreign dogs, the seeds of
preposterous professors. You are
always wishing to swallow the crumbs
of unknown loaves, to soak
in the fluid of forgotten dreams;
the imaginings of wild monkeys and
ruptured snakes. You are
never satisfied; always fixing
your imagination on dark suns ahead.
